Student lives on £800 yacht to save on rent

Do you live close to the water and enjoy swimming in your free time? Are you dissatisfied with the rent rates? Are you tired of wasting your money on landlord? Maybe it is a high time to follow the example of the student from Aberystwyth.
His name is Joy Pearce, and he can tell you how to get the roof under your head and do not pay for rent. Joy bought a yacht for £800 so that he did not have to pay expensive rent. His boat is called “The Golden Cloud” and she is still seaworthy. Joy spent 14 months on it, while he was taking Master Degree in Physical Geography. The yacht was ridiculously cheap, especially if to consider the fact, that the rent of the flat for only one month costs £400. Since Joy is the owner of “The Golden Cloud”, he is to pay only £1 per day for keeping it in the harbor. What is more, he can always sell the yacht, when he will no longer need it.
Before that, Joe was sharing a flat with his girlfriend, but they broke up, and he could not afford to spend such big sum of money on rent. So that, he has found a smarter solution and saved £5,600 during his Master Degree. Joy Pearce went even further in saving money. He was cycling to and from the university all the time and saved even on public transport.
What is more, Joe had been to a sailing club in his home town, and he always dreamt about his own yacht. “The Golden Cloud” gave him an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone: Joe was able to save about £370 per month, and he was the owner of the comfortable yacht.
The funniest thing about this story is that Joy offered the ridiculously low price of £800, and he did not expect that somebody would agree to his offer. More or less good yachts cost about £3000 so that it was his lucky day. Of course, “The Golden Cloud” did not look like a luxurious yacht, and all his friends were shocked, but Joe considered his purchase to be a great camping. The boat has old engine and it is a bit small for 6 feet-high man, but Joe still adores his dwelling.
If you look on the bright side, the yacht is cozy, comfortable and you can feel like home there. Still, it is not the best place for a party.
Now, Joe had finished his studies and he decided to sail on it to his hometown. That took him about 450 miles, but he was ready for such an adventure. He was also going to stop in 8 ports on his way.
As Joe was not experienced enough in sailing. He took a companion on the journey, but more than 120 miles, he sailed on his own.
The story of Joe Pearce shows that anybody can find the way not to pay expensive rent for accommodation and find something cheaper. Living on a yacht is a good way out for those, who like water, and is ready to spend a lot of time on it. Who knows, maybe, you will challenge yourself with such unusual, but the enjoyable style of living, while you are in college or university. What is more, there are a lot of other ways to save up money, and one of them is to live in a tent somewhere in the forest if you do not like water much.
