University of Bologna
The history of this university dates back to 1088, and it still functioning. Bologna University is considered to be the oldest in the world. This university, established in 1096, is famous throughout the world, as one of the most prestigious universities. University of Salamanca

Al-Azhar University
This educational institution was established in Egypt in far 970 AD. However, it gained the status of the university only in 1961. It underwent some periods of political instability and completely changed its program from Islamic studies only to a wide range of traditional disciplines. Nowadays it is ranked as 701st popular university in the world.
